STRATEGY

Vision/Goal

What is your high-level goal. Where are we going? What do we want?

Objectives

What do we need to do next to achieve our hihg-level vision/goal. The objectives "O" are aspirational in nature. They get us out of bed each day.

Key Results

How will be know we were successful? The key results "KRs" are outcome based. They are the definitions of success for the objective. They define what success looks like and let us know if we are making progress.

HOW TO

Create your OKRs online

START WITH A SWOT ANALYSIS
Perform out a SWOT Analysis with your team to understand the current state of your team or business vs your long-term goal. This will help you identify key priorities going forward.

CHOOSE A CADENCE
We recommend a Quarterly cadence.  As part of your annual planning feel free to also create Annual and 5YR OKRS. For each plan set a clear vision for what you want to accomplish at the highest level The create objectives that help you determine what you need to do next to achieve your vision.

SET YOUR OBJECTIVES
Start by determining what you and your team need to do next in order to achieve your longterm vision or goal. Then brainstorm the key results for each objective. Essentially how will you measure success. You should ideally have 3-5 objectives with 3-4 key results each.

WEEKLY REVIEW & SCORING UPDATES
Have the owners of each key result make sure to update their results and color based sentiment forecast. The result scores should be based on what has been accomplished to date. The sentiment forecast should be based on how the owner feels about their ability to achieve the key results. Red = blocked, Yellow = behind or at-risk, Green = on track.

CONCLUSION
At the end of each quarter add a conclusion to your OKRs. What did you learn? What went well? What didn't go so well? What can we do better going forward?
