A method for comparing your current state with a future or desired state. It identifies the Gaps between current and future state and helps teams develop a set of actions to close the gaps. Teams will often use Gap Analysis to review current processes, products, market penetration, and develop specific action plans. For example, a team may have an objective of “Becoming a Solution Selling Organization." They would use Gap Analysis to 1) understand what their current state is, 2) define specifically what the future state of becoming a solution selling organization would require, 3) identify the Gaps, and 4) build an action plan to evolve from current to future state.
